One of the Corporal Works of Mercy is to visit the sick. Jesus said when you do this, you do it for me. (Mat. 25:31-40) We are bound together in community through the Eucharist because we become what we eat; the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Taking communion to those who are unable to join us because of illness or some other limitation extends the Eucharistic celebration and keeps them connected to the Body of Christ.
It is the hope and mission of this ministry to share Eucharist with all who are separated from us for reasons of health, whether it be a permanent situation or temporary, for example, recovering from surgery or a short term illness.
If you are interested in participating in this very important ministry, please contact Deacon Tom for more information. And if you know of someone who is homebound and we are not currently visiting them, please contact the office (634-4625) or Deacon Tom to have them added to the list. Has God been calling you to service and you’re not sure how to respond? Prayerfully consider if He’s calling you to minister to the homebound.
